Getting The Black Marauder Ready For The Road.. (08/06/01)
Down Pipe - A minor technical adjustment is made to the front mudguard to prevent it rubbing the "MZ" down pipe. A small task but experience, concentration and a hacksaw are still required. The Family Bahco Spanner can clearly be seen in the foreground.
Chain, Oil, Plug - The previous owner had nicely greased and lubricated the chain. It ran round smoothly with no tight spots, but it may need a little tightening soon.
The gearbox oil was very clean, the sparking plug was dark tan and showed a little oil.
This will be carefully monitored as part of the Black Marauder's fastidious maintence schedule.
Changing The Clutch Cable - The mounting unscrewed from the gear box very easily. The "newer" cable was then oiled (left of photo). But once liberated the mounting showed little interest in returning to the gearbox. Strange..
As with many aspects of motorcycle maintence experience has shown that this task is best done in the rain.
